This Shoebill is one of the highlights of the new tour to Uganda.

Resplendent Quetzal is an amazing bird that we regularly see on the Costa Rica tour in March.

This Brown-banded Puffbird can be found on the new Peru Iquitos/Explornapo tour that visits the Mishana White-Sands forest.

Vermilion Flycatcher seen regularly on our Southeastern Arizona Tour in May and August

There's nothing quite like birding in the tropics, especially in Costa Rica in March!

It is difficult to imagine a bird this bright inside of a dark cloud-forest. Come see Andean Cock-of-the-Rock on our Peru and Ecuador tours.

The Jocotoco Antpitta was first discovered in 1997 - it is a regular feature of our Southern Ecuador tour in October.

NEW TOURS FOR 2011

(updated September 1, 2011)

REMAINING 2011 TOURS

The following tours scheduled for 2011 still have space:

Southern Ecuador: Jocotoco Reserves - October 15-30, 2011. This tour visits and stays at several Jocotoco Foundation Reserves in Southern Ecuador. Some of the more fantastic birds we expect to see include Jocotoco Antpitta, Long-wattled Umbrellabird, and Andean Cock-of-the-Rock. This tour specializes on Tumbesian endemics found in Southern Ecuador and Northern Peru. We should see more than 500 species in the two weeks!. CONFIRMED - FOUR SPACES LEFT.

PANAMA TOUR CHANGES

Panama Canopy Tower with extension to Canopy Lodge - February 4-10, with extension to Feb 14. I have rescheduled my Panama tour for February 2012. The tour will now be six nights at the famous Canopy Tower, with an extension to the beautiful Canopy Lodge for four additional nights. Panama is an excellent introduction to tropical birding, and the birding in the Canal Zone and along Pipeline Road is fantastic. FULL

ECUADOR - JANUARY 2012

Ecuador: East Slope of the Andes - January 5-14, 2012. This is a wonderful tour that visits Cabañas San Isidro and Wildsumaco Lodges - two of the more beautiful and exciting birding locations in Ecuador. This tour covers an excellent cross section of the eastern Andes, from the rich high-elevation Paramo grasslands to lovely subtropical forest to the exciting upper-tropical zone at Wildsumaco. This tour is really good for hummingbirds, as well as specialties such as Andean Cock-of-the-Rock, Andean Condor, Napo Saberwing, and Gray-tailed Piha. Excellent accomodations and wonderful food! Can be combined with Ecuador: La Selva tour. CONFIRMED - SIX SPACES LEFT

Ecuador: La Selva Lodge - January 13-22, 2012. La Selva Lodge remains one of the best birding lodges in Amazonian Ecuador. It was the first lodge to open on the Napo River, and is still a wonderful place to visit - excellent birding, fabulous food, and comfortable accommodations. La Selva is still the most reliable place I know of for the elusive Zigzag Heron! Set on a beautiful oxbow lake that is great for birds, we will also have access to a very productive canopy tower, a nice parrot clay lick, and an excellent network of forest trails. Can be combined with Ecuador:East Slope of the Andes tour.
